Better Late Than Never
Just because you haven’t done something yet, doesn’t mean you can’t do it…
If you had suggested to me just a few short years ago, that I could captivate thousands of people on stage and write an award-winning international bestselling book, I likely couldn’t have imagined it nor would I have been immediately confident that I could do it.
A few days ago, though, I finally had a chance to sit down and look at some numbers regarding my keynotes, number of people reached with my approach to training the mind, and how my new book fared in 2021.
It’s hard for me to believe that, in 2021, I delivered 139 keynotes to 50,192 people across dozens of F500 companies and organizations like Cornell University, Georgetown University, and University of Southern California. That I could have that kind of reach and impact truly astonishes me. As I look across all years since starting to deliver keynotes, classes, and workshops I am approaching the 100K mark. Unbelievable.
My first foray into book writing led to the publishing of, ‘Mindfulness without the Bells and Beads’ (https://amzn.to/3kHd77b) in April 2021 with Wiley. This too was something that I ‘could never do’ and yet, here we are 10 months later and Wiley has done three print runs of the book, it has been a #1 bestseller in the US and Canada, and I’ve signed thousands of copies at peoples’ request. I still pinch myself when people ask me, a poor kid from small town USA, to sign a copy of my book for them or someone in their life.
I’m 46 years old. It’s never too late to do something new and just because you haven’t done something yet, doesn’t mean you can’t do it. If you want it, get after it!
